KYAIKHTIYO ( The Golden Rock ) - 3 Days/ 2 Nights
Day 01 Yangon - Bago – Kyaikhtiyo
Breakfast
at hotel and depart for Bago (approx 1½ hour). En-route stop
at the Shwenyaungpin Nat shrine to appeal for a safe
journey. Observe the world largest and authentic reclining
Shwethalyaung Buddha Image measuring 55 meters long and 16
meter high. Continue visit attractive Bago market, region
highest Shwemawdaw Pagoda of 144 meter height and a walk to
the Hinthagone Pagoda, the place where Bago was founded.
Proceed to Kin pun base camp (approx 3½ hour). Board on an
open truck for 11 km steep and dirt road leads to the upper
staging point of Yathetaung camp. Continue walk up (approx
45 min) to the renowned Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda site. As an easier
alternative to walking, four porters at an extra cost can
carry you in a specially made sedan chair. The rock is
completely covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on
the edge of the cliff. Observe the magnificence view of the
entire plain from this important pilgrimage site.
Overnight in Kyaikhtiyo.
Day 02 Around the hillside
Breakfast at hotel and hike along the twisting and
turning footpath through bamboo forest to visit site trips
such as Kyaukkyikan Pasat, Mokesotaung, Ngaga Yeawin etc or
hike to the waterfall (approx 2½ hour). Waterfall is
beautiful and water cold, clean, and possible to swim in the
fall. Return journey would take about 3 hours as it is
mostly climbing up hill. Overnight in Kyaikhtiyo.
Day 03 Kyaikhtiyo - Yangon (truck / coach)
Breakfast
at hotel and wonder of the activities of local pilgrimage in
this importance Buddhist pilgrimage site. Late morning walk
down to the upper camp, board on a truck and to arrive at
base camp. Meet your driver and continue drive to Bago.
While in Bago visit Hanthawadi palace site surrounding a
former Mon palace ground have been excavated. The palace
compound in the center known as "Kambawzathadi" housed king
"Bayinnaung of 1553 – 1599. Return to Yangon to conclude
unique experience.
